Description
This elegant and beautifully detailed white opaque depression glass sugar and creamer set was made in the "Newport" pattern (also called "Hairpin") by Hazel Atlas between 1936 and 1940. Despite it's appearance, it is not milk glass, but rather platonite opaque glassware. The process of creating platonite was patented by Hazel Atlas in 1936 and included various finishes applied to the glass during final production. The patented process apparently created amore durable alternative to milk glass. This set specifically has the following dimensions: sugar bowl 4" tall x 5" wide (with handles) and cream pitcher is 4" tall by 4 1/4" wide (with handle). They are in good condition, with only minor wear consistent with a white antique of this age.Description
